About AA

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. There are no dues or fees and meetings are available throughout area and are open for all who wish to explore a new way of living.

District 21

AA General Service Area 51 is North Carolina.  AA District 21 is a district in AA Area 51.  AA District 21 consists of all AA Groups in Davie, Iredell and Rowan Counties.

GSR and DCM

The GSR (General Service Representative) is elected by their home group as a link to their group and AA as a whole.  The GSR represents the voice of the group conscience reporting the group's thoughts to the District Committee Member and to the delegate, who passes them on to the General Service Conference.  (Reprinted from The A.A. Service Manual, Page S26, with permission of A.A. World Services Inc.).   It is suggested that GSR's participate at District Meetings and Area Assemblies.

The DCM (District Committee Member) and Alternate DCM are elected by the GSR's in their district.  The DCM is an essential link between the Group GSR's and the area delegate to the General Service Conference.  As leader of the District Committee, the DCM is exposed to the group conscience of the district.  As a member of the area committee, the DCM is able to pass on the districts thinking to the delegate and the committee.  (Reprinted from The A.A. Service Manual, page S31, with permission of A.A. World Services, Inc.).

 DISTRICT COMMITTEE MEETINGS

The GSR's, DCM and Alternate DCM have a District 21 Business Meeting on a quarterly basis.  The meeting place, date and time will be provided by the DCM.  This is a meeting of all Group Service Representatives or their alternates in Davie, Iredell and Rowan Counties.  This is the time when a GSR can pass on their group's thoughts to the DCM.  During the District Meeting reports are given by the Secretary, Treasurer, CPC/PI, Corrections, Grapevine and the Web Master.  There is time for GSR's to bring forth any questions or concerns, anything their group wants to propose.

Do you have old copies of the Grapevine at your home or meeting place just taking up space?  Please do not throw them away, bring them to the District 21 Meeting and give them to the Corrections Committee.  The people in the corrections facilities greatly appreciate them.
